Somerville/Medford Remembering Mildred Frances (Allen) Teixeira

Mildred Frances (Allen) Teixeira, aged 84, passed away peacefully, with her family by her side, on Saturday, June 15, 2024, after a courageous fight with cancer.

Millie was a devoted wife for 53 years to her husband, Manny, who passed away in 2012. Millie was a proud and beloved mother, nana, and great grandmother. She will be missed by sons John Teixeira and his wife, Bronwyn of Somerville, James (Jay) Teixeira and his wife, Judith (Judi) of Franklin, and Christopher Teixeira and his wife, Alexis of Somerville; grandchildren Matthew, Tristan, Alexander, Elizabeth, and Peter; and great grandchildren Kai, Elinor, and Lyzander.

Millie and her husband, Manny, loved to travel, especially cruising, and were often accompanied by their grandchildren.

Mildred loved the city of Somerville and especially treasured her neighborhood friends as well as friends throughout the city. She was a Cub Scout leader for many years serving Pack 7 out of St. Anthony’s Church. She also was active as a Somerville High School Band parent supporting her boys and the band during football season, band trips, and competitions.

As secretary of St. Anthony Parish and Administrator of St. Anthony School in Somerville for many years, Millie touched the lives of many families making a positive and lasting impact on them. She loved God and her church and when she became ill, she fearlessly put herself in His hands determined to fight “as long as God wants me to.”

Visitation will be Thursday, June 27, 2024, from 8:30 AM – 9:30 AM at George L. Doherty Funeral Home, 855 Broadway (Powder House Square) Somerville, followed by a Funeral Mass at St. Ann Church, Somerville at 10:00 AM. Relatives and friends are invited. Interment at Mt. Calvary (Old Calvary) Cemetery, Roslindale.
