Somerville/Medford Remembering Dorothy M. Sears

DOROTHY’S OBITUARY

Dorothy M. Sears of Somerville, passed away peacefully after a brief illness on May 30, 2023 at home with her two children by her side. She was 79.

Born in Cambridge she was the daughter of the late James and Elizabeth (Durate) Sears.
Dotty grew up in Somerville with her five sisters and one brother, Albertina Ciampa and Teresa Marshall and the late Mary Ray, Betty Reposa, Rosemary Fava and Daniel Sears. Dotty worked as a homemaker for over 30 years helping and servicing the community, she lived in. After her retirement in 2012, she continued to help seniors (and anyone she could) up until she was diagnosed earlier this year. Dotty loved spending time with family and friends, and she was always the life of the party. She loved walking, bingo, scratch tickets, dancing (Dotty had the best moves!), and watching sports, especially Bobby Orr. Anyone who ever received a card from Dotty would always know it was from her because it was signed “Love Dotty 4”! Dotty was one of a kind and will be missed by many.
Dotty was the beloved mother of her 2 children, Steven Sears and his wife Kim of Salem New Hampshire, and her daughter Karan and Dean DiMartino of South Boston. Dotty was also the loving grandmother of two grandchildren Jacklyn and Zack Sears and is survived by many nieces and nephews.
