COLIN’S OBITUARY
U.S. Veteran
Colin George Chisholm, 84, a lifelong resident of Somerville, died peacefully on May 26, 2023 after a short illness.
He was a graduate of Saint Clement School in West Somerville, class of 1956. He studied aeronautical engineering at Boston University and worked at MIT in computer operations. Colin served in the United States Air Force from 1958 through 1962. After his military service he became a member of the Civil Air Patrol, joined the Massachusetts State Guard and Military Reserve, and worked for the Somerville Auxiliary Police.
Colin had a wealth of knowledge about military history, trolleys, and railroads, and was very proud of his extensive library of reference materials.
Colin was a lifelong hobby enthusiast and builder of model rail and trolley cars, as well as military ships and aircraft. He was a member of The Boston Railway Association, Seashore Trolley Museum, Central Electric Railfans’ Association, and Baystate Model Railroad Museum.
Colin was predeceased by his parents, William Chisholm and Alice Rita (Renney) Chisholm, and his sister, Maryann Chisholm. He leaves behind many cousins and good friends.
Friends are invited to call at the George L. Doherty Funeral Home 885 Broadway, Somerville on Tuesday, June 6, from 4 to 7 p.m. A prayer service will be held in the funeral home Tuesday evening at 6:30 p.m. Burial service will take place at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne on Wednesday, June 7, at 10:00 a.m.
