Muriel R. (Blakely) Williams, of Medford and formerly of Somerville, passed away on April 1, 2022, she was 81. Born in Medford and raised in Somerville, she was the youngest child of Olive E. (Rogers) and James Blakely.
She was the beloved wife of the late John J. “Jake” Williams.
Muriel loved all her family very much. For many years she and John would host card games, watch sporting events and hosting family get togethers on Saturdays. She cherished the time she would spend with her nieces and nephews, visiting their homes, shopping or maybe to the casino once in a while.
Growing up, our mother was always home, after school she had snacks waiting for us and dinner was ready soon after. She was always there when ever we needed her. She really loved talking on the phone, which was often a lot longer than expected, but that’s why we loved her so much. She loved her chats with her sisters. Muriel also loved going to the hairdresser every Friday. Our Dad would take her after he retired, when he passed, we all pitched in for the drop off and pickups. It was always the highlight of her week and it always made her feel good.
Muriel sacrificed a lot so that my brother and I could have everything we needed. Christmas and Thanksgiving were always a special time for the whole family to come together and I know our mother always wanted everyone to be happy.
There is so much more to say about our mother, but we know that all the people who have come to know her will have many memories to keep within their hearts to remember her by.
We want to thank all our family and friends for the thoughts, help and prayers that have been sent to us during this hard time.
Rest in Peace, we love you.
