WMEX Good Guys 1510AM

The WMEX “Good Guys” are back on the air and building up a head of steam with the likes of Larry Justice, Jimmy Jay, Joe McMillan, Gary Leavitt and Keith Leavitt. These are five gentleman that have long worked in Boston Radio as well as other parts of the country and are looking to put WMEX back on the map as “The Oldies Station.”

Justice who is on from 9-2 has been in the game since the 1960’s working at such stations as WBZ, WROR and of course originally at WMEX. Justice along with his wife Beverly also owned Justice Broadcasting with stations on the Cape, in Florida, and Vermont. His smooth on air voice is as good as it gets. He has done voiceover work at a national level. He really fits the Good Guy personae.
McMillan, who also has an incredible voice, is on from 2-6 pm. He has worked at WHDH, OLDIES 103, WROR, WVBF as well as KABL in San Francisco. He’s just a Regular Joe that delivers daily.
Then there is Jimmy Jay, “The DJ of The Stars”, as he became famous for doing events with the biggest names in the business. He has interviewed thousands and even today during his 9-6 shift on both Saturdays and Sundays Jimmy will talk with the likes of Connie Francis, Peter Noone, Gary U.S. Bonds and so many more. He has also done remote broadcasts at the Academy Awards, Grammy Awards, Soul Train Awards, Dick Clark’s American Band Stand Theater as well as the Dick Clark Birthday Salute.
The last of the Good Guys but certainly not least are the Leavitt Brothers (Gary / played Bozo The Clown for the FOX affiliate in Providence and Keith), who host Gary Leavitt and Friends every Sunday Morning from 6-9. It is a Variety Show that consists of interviews with all kinds of Celebrities; professional athletes, world famous musicians from today and yesterday, famous actors, comedians, human interest stories and authors. In between the interviews Gary (nicknamed the Wizard of Stars/for his ability to impersonate any celebrity) will provide comedy bits (fake phone calls, parody songs, fake commercials that can be clever, hokey, corny and sometimes suggestive but never stepping over the line). Keith, a history teacher at Northeast Regional Metro Tech High School in Wakefield is a no nonsense wealth of information. He interviews the guests with such pinpoint accuracy.
Some of the guests on Gary Leavitt and Friends have included Bronson Arroyo, John Oates, Don McLean, Larry Thomas (The Soup Nazi), Bobby Carpenter, Mark Bavaro, Ernie DiGregorio, Al Bumbry, Livingston Taylor, Lee Greenwood and so many more. Andrew Farris from INXS, comedian Jeff Allen and Country duo Jeff Batson and Eric Haines are on this weekend while Country Singer John Berry and actor Don Most (Ralph Malph from Happy Days) will be on next week.
The Gary Leavitt and Friends Sunday Show also features interviews with business owners that are news worthy or interesting.
