At about 1:30PM on Wednesday afternoon, Somerville Fire and Police Department crews were called to the intersection of Bow Street at Walnut Street for a collapsed power utility cable.

According to witnesses at the scene, the cable suddenly snapped during 95° temperatures and landed on vehicles parked along Walnut Street. Witnesses also stated that sparks and smoke came out of the cable and were quickly secured by the firefighters.

The cause of the cable collapse is under investigation and yet be determined.
