Dear Billy T and Somerville/Medford News Weekly Speakup Line,

Why is it that each square is opening with outdoor seating and ball square only has about 8 tables on the sidewalk several remain closed.
Ball square has suffered for the last year and a half with the bridge closed. Construction preventing people from wanting to driving to the area and no outdoor dining.
Where is our Councilors and why should they left ball square be last.
It just shows the true colors of our elected officials and how they truly care about small businesses.

  1. There has never been a problem with the council and small business. By the amount of work they do to put them out of business clearly shows their intentions. This besides the fact we should be working on going inside now. Mostly because the people running the show are lagging so far behind everyone else. Have a bunch of people collecting a nice part time check does not mean you are going to get anything for the money. Maybe if people went to the restaurant and went inside and demanded a meal as a protest that would be acceptable. What’s good for the goose is good for the gander. And I am not advocating to be unsafe. It’s that these council members need to get off their butt and do something and learn about what to do. Most is obvious and common sense. The people crowded each other to complain about our very good police department standing next to each other. It would be safer inside a restaurant. But I am not expecting them to help because that would be outside of what they usually do. In this time of trouble in America they are lucky to have a job that overpays them and it would not kill them to put some effort into doing the right thing for a change. You can’t keep screwing the small business person here over and over again. You will either have no business which it looks like that is what you want to do or a more serious problem when you push people too far. You are past the time to step up! Show some guts and step up now. I applaud the gym owner in Oxford. I would contribute to the fines for any business that defied this city and did the right thing. People can choose if they want to go or not. They do not have to be ordered like children to obey your commands. If the numbers change and things have to be reversed we can face that then. We don’t want your dam protection or watch any of you on tv with nothing to say just to get your picture. I want people to be safe but at this moment you are just too far in space to know what to do anymore. Come back down to earth. This government is by the people for the people. Try to remember that. You are supposed to be working for us! Not running your own show!
