Somerville Remembering LENORA M. (PRIEST) ALCARO

Our sincere condolences go out to the family and friends of LENORA M. (PRIEST) ALCARO on her passing.

Lenora was a wonderful person who will be sadly missed here in Somerville.

Obituary:

ALCARO,LENORA M. (PRIEST) AGE 95 Aug 6,2019 in Spring Hill,FL formerly of Cambridge Predeceased by her husband, Francis R. Predeceased by her grandson,Nicholas J. Peacefully passed in her sleep with her children by her side.

Daughter of the late Frank and Mary (Portanova) Priest. One of the original 18 siblings, In 1939, Nora just 15 yrs old had to quit school to help her eldest sister Madeline take care of the 7 younger siblings ages 2-13. Mary, her mother, died along with the 18th baby at childbirth. Two other babies did not survive leaving 15 children with their Father Frank a roofer, to provide for.

Lenora was also predeceased by her brother Alfred “Red” Priest who was a famous boxer and N.E.Golden Gloves Champ in the 1940’s. Nora leaves one brother, Edward Priest of Waltham, and one sister, Caroline DeFrancesco of Lexington. She is survived by her daughter Mary Catherine, her son Francis P Alcaro and daughter in law Susan.

She also leaves one sister in law, Rose (Alcaro) Fialkowski of Billerica,many nieces, nephews and Grand nieces and nephews. On Thursday, Sept 26 a memorial mass will be held at St Peter’s Church at 10am 96 Concord Ave Cambridge Mass with interment at Cambridge Cemetery
