Real Life Somerville Police Stories: Romeo NAJERA (Shoplifting, Resisting Arrest) & Marco GONZALEZ (Shoplifting & Boston Warrant)

On August 30, 2018 at approximately 1333, I Officer Randy Isaacs along with Officer Brioso and Officer Ubeda were dispatched to 75 Mystic Ave (Home Depot), for a report of two individuals shoplifting. Upon arrival Officer Brioso and I observed the two individuals about to walk out of the store. At that time, Officer Brioso and I approached the two individuals, later identified as Mr. Marco Gonzalez and Mr. Romeo Najera.

As Officer Brioso and I escorted the two suspects to the security office, Mr. Najera became agitated and then combative. While trying to restrain Mr. Najera, Officer Brioso sprained his ankle in the process. After restraining Mr. Najera, the two suspects were brought to the security office. While in the office, I located in the backpack of Mr. Najera, one Dewalt Hammer Drill, valued at $319.00 and one Ryobi Impact Drill, valued at $149.00.

Mr. Gonzalez and Mr. Najera were observed stealing both items. Mr. Najera was observed opening one Crescent Wiss cable cutter, valued at $14.00. After opening the cable cutter, Mr. Najera cut both tools from their securing cable and Mr. Gonzalez took both items and placed them in Mr. Najera’s backpack. Also earlier in the day at approximately 1050 (Incident# 18051792) Mr. Najera was caught at Super Stop & Shop, located at 779 McGrath HWY shoplifting $200.00 worth of groceries. At that time, Mr. Najera had provided a different name, also, Mr. Najera was not arrested and Trespassed from Stop & Shop.

At the time of booking, Mr. Gonzalez provided the name XXXX, however; when his fingerprints came back, he was identified as Mr. Marco Gonzalez Jr. Also, Mr. Gonzalez came back with a Default Warrant (Docket# 1803CR000504) out of South Boston District for Indecent A & B on Person 14 or Over.
