Dear Supporter of the Performing Arts,
The SHS Department of Music and Performing Arts is thrilled to present the Tony award-winning musical
Pippin on February 8th, 9th, and 10th in the Somerville High School Centennial Auditorium!
For over four months, our students have been hard at work bringing the story of Prince Pippin’s search for purpose to life onstage. Featuring music by Stephen Schwartz (Godspell, Wicked) and choreography by the legendary Bob Fosse (Cabaret, Chicago), our production honors the original production and its successful Broadway revival while adding our own contemporary twist.
This is an exciting year for Theatre Arts at SHS: Pippin marks our 15th annual musical production, we’ve added a licensed Theatre Arts teacher to our faculty, and we’ve launched an exciting new arts organization: The Highlander Theatre Company, a student-led initiative with the mission of creating more opportunities for SHS students to experience and participate in Theatre Arts. We have big plans for the future, but we can’t do it without your support.
Each year, the musical costs up to $15,000 to produce. When you purchase a program ad, your contribution goes directly towards offsetting these costs, which include licensing, production, and professional fees. It’s also a great way to advertise your local business, send a word of encouragement to a student involved, or simply express your support for Theatre Arts at SHS.
Please consider showing your support by purchasing a program ad. You may refer to the attached form for pricing information, and write to Rosemary Sears at rsears@k12.somerville.ma.us with text or images to include, or for any questions that you may have. To ensure that your ad is published in the program book, please have the ad content submitted by February 5th, 2018.
There’s never been a more exciting time to show your support for Theatre Arts at SHS! With gratitude,
Richard G. Saunders
