On Wednesday, November 8, 2017, I, Officer Paul Beckford, was on duty for the Somerville Police (E3). At approximately 9:47 AM, I was dispatched in the area of Somerville High School for a past Assault with a Dangerous Weapon.
Upon arrival, I met with the suspect Mr. Steven Andrade. Mr. Andrade fit the description of the suspect. The description was a male in a black hooded sweatshirt walking xxxxx, which is where I spotted and stopped Mr. Andrade. I placed Mr. Andrade in handcuffs for my safety. Somerville dispatched confirmed that Mr. Andrade was indeed the suspect Officers we’re looking for. I asked Mr. Andrade if he had any weapons on him. Mr. Andrade stated that he had a knife tucked in his front waist of his pants. I asked Mr. Andrade if he was involved in a altercation recently. He stated “No, I was just on my way to go smoke some weed.” “I didn’t do anything Officer.”
The victims, xxxxx and xxxxx were on scene. They stated that Mr. Andrade stole some of their personal belongings. (Ref to Incident #17068239) Mr. Rodriguez stated that a mutual friend by the name of xxxxx told them to meet Mr. Andrade on Prescott Street. Mr. Rodriguez was under the impression that they were going to get their personal belongings back. They spotted Mr. Andrade at the location that was described by xxxx. xxxxx stated that he got out of xxxxx motor vehicle to approach Mr. Andrade for the personal belongings. xxxxx stated “Do you have my stuff?” Mr. Andrade replied “Fuck you, you’re not getting shit back.” xxxxx stated that Mr. Andrade started to walk towards him in a aggressive manner. While he was walking towards him, xxxxx stated that Mr. Andrade revealed a knife that was tucked in his front waist of his pants. xxxxx stated that he went back into xxxxx motor vehicle because he was scared that Mr. Andrade would stab him. Mr. Andrade walked past them yelling out MP45 and throwing up crew signs. MP45 is a well known crew in the City of Somerville, which is based out of the Mystic Housing Projects.
Mr. Andrade was placed under arrest for Assault with a Dangerous Weapon. Mr. Andrade was transport by our transport vehicle (200) by Officer Marra to the Somerville Police Station. At the station he was booked in the usually manner by Lt. Sheehan. The knife was confiscated and logged into evidence.
