Practice Schedule

Location: Foss Park (Fellsway West, entrance near baby pool)
Days: August: Mon, Tues, Wed, Thurs @ 5:30 pm – 8:00pm
September – November: Tues, Wed, Thurs @ 6:00 pm- 8:00pm
Pre-Season
❖ Scrimmages will take place in August during our scheduled practice times. Dates TBD
❖ SPW Jamboree at our home Stadium, Dilboy Field on Sunday, August 27th. Game times TBD
Official Weigh-in
❖ Saturday, September 9th: Location and time TBD
SPW will arrange transportation for all players from Foss Park to the weigh in location with their team and coaches. We will return to Foss Park when finished. Weigh in is MANDATORY for all players.
Games – Sundays
When: September 10th, 17th, & 24th and October 1st, 8th, 15th, 22nd, & 29th
Times: E-team – 8:00am, D-team – 9:30am, C-team – 11:00am, B-team – 12:30pm,
A-team – 2:00pm, F-team 3:30pm

Equipment
❖ Football: SPW will supply all equipment and uniforms needed to play. Families are responsible to purchase their child’s cleats and socks.
❖ Cheer: SPW will supply the uniform (skirt + vest). Parents must purchase sneakers, turtleneck, shorts and bows. (Avg. $75.00 – $100.00)
**We price around to find the most reasonable prices to help our families purchase any equipment needed. We will also arrange for a sales rep. to come down to the park during a practice and fit the children. **

About the SomerVILLENS
The Somerville Pop Warner Football and Cheer Program is a non-profit organization that seeks to provide children a fun athletic learning experience in a safe and structured environment. Through participation in our program, we teach the children teamwork, building leadership, learning skills, and discipline while emphasizing the importance of academic success.
We take pride in bringing together boys and girls from the City of Somerville to learn important life lessons through playing organized football and participating in cheering. We encourage good sportsmanship, respect for our community and each other, and strong team unity. We are committed to keeping youth sports in its proper perspective.
It is important now more than ever that kids have a place to go and have an opportunity to do something productive. All of our volunteers are dedicated to making your child’s experience a positive one.

FACTS
• All Board Members, Volunteers and Coaches are CORI checked;
• All Football Coaches are USA Certified;
• All Cheer Coaches are YCADA Certified;
• All coaches are trained and certified in recognizing and handling concussions and injuries;
• All participating members must have at least a C average in school. School is always first priority;
• All children are put on teams by Age + Weight to keep them safe, playing with their peers;
• There is a Mandatory Play Rule, depending on the amount of members per team, each child must get his or her mandatory plays.
• Members are taught the sport of Football and Cheer but most important, just how to have fun.
