Somerville hotspot monthly comedic series announces July lineup
WHAT: There’s “Something Big” coming to Somerville’s Davis Square Theatre. On July 21, the Davis Square Theatre is hosting the third show in its monthly comedic showcase featuring stand-up in an intimate setting from the country’s best and brightest talent. Hosted by local funnymen Nick Chambers and Al Park, “Something Big,” brings big belly laughs to Boston in this reoccurring original series. This July’s show will feature headliner Mehran Khaghani with comics Ken Reid and Kate Procyshyn.
About the cast of comedians:
“Born in London to Iranian parents and socially acclimated in America by surly Bostonians, Mehran Khaghani brings a singularly delicious combination of wit, pedigree and vulgarity to the stage. Mehran was prominently featured on season 9 of NBC’s ‘Last Comic Standing’, has been seen on MTV and Comedy Central, and is a regular at New York’s famous Comedy Cellar.”
“Ken Reid is an award-winning comedian and pop culture expert known for his unique storytelling. He has recorded albums for SiriusXM Satellite Radio, performed at the Bridgetown Comedy Festival & Riot LA Comedy Festival, and opened for Patton Oswalt, Louis C.K., Todd Barry and John Oliver. Ken is a frequent podcast guest and has appeared on NPR’s ‘Ask Me Another’, ‘You’re the Expert’, ‘Unfictional’, ‘The Moth’, and ‘Doug Loves Movies.’ He also is the creator and host of the pop-culture podcast “‘TV Guidance Counselor.’”
“A New England comedian and librarian, Kate Procyshyn grew up in the Reno, Nevada, and has performed in the Women in Comedy Festival, Boston Comedy Festival and the She-Devil Comedy Festival.”
