Real Life Somerville Police Stories:Heinsky ANACREON (Distribute Class B); Charles GONDOLA & Victor GONZALEZ (Possess Class B)Drug Arrest

The following is a brief summary pertaining to incident #16030838. It does not contain every minute detail of the arrest.

During the evening of May 27th, 2016 members of the Somerville Police Vice Narcotics Unit were conducting routine surveillance within the Magoun Square area. Detectives Cicerone and Brioso operating unmarked vehicles in the Magoun Square area observed a dark BMW bearing MA Reg XXXXXX pulling in front of 523 Broadway, a public way within the City of Somerville. They identified the operator to be Mr. Heinsky Anacreon, who is very well known to members of the Somerville Narcotics Unit due to prior narcotic arrests. Mr. Anacreon was observed entering Woody’s Liquors’ establishment. Within a minute of entering the store, an older white male wearing a red shirt and khaki shorts was observed pacing back and forth in front of Woody’s Liquors. Detective Cicerone and Brioso were made aware of the white male due to his abnormal pacing. That gentleman, later identified as Mr. Charles Gondola, was observed utilizing his cell phone while pacing back and forth. As Mr. Anacreon exited Woody’s Liquors, he quickly met with Mr. Gondola directly in front of the store. I would like to note that the duration of this interaction was no more than 10 seconds. At this time, Detectives Brioso and Cicerone observed Mr. Anacreon and Mr. Gondola complete what they believed to be a street level drug transaction in their training and experience. It appeared that Mr. Anacreon and Mr. Gondola exchanged items between their hands. At the conclusion of this hand to hand drug transaction, Mr. Gondola began to walk across the street and down Hinckley Street toward Fisk Avenue. Mr. Anacreon got into the black BMW and made a U-turn on Broadway heading east from Hinckley Street toward Central Street.

As Mr. Gondola travelled down Hinckley Street from Broadway to Fisk Avenue, Detectives Brioso and Cicerone stopped him to conduct a threshold inquiry. Detectives Brioso and Cicerone stopped Mr. Gondola at the corner of Fisk Avenue and Hinckley Street. As Detectives Brioso and Cicerone were conducting this threshold inquiry, Sgt Rego, Detective Costa, and I continued to the Mystic Housing Development where we know Mr. Anacreon to reside. Mr Anacreon picked up a female from the Mystic Housing Development just outside of his residence at 50 Memorial Road. He and the female then travelled on Memorial Road toward Temple Street. A rolling surveillance of Mr. Anacreon was kept pending the outcome of Detectives Cicerone and Brioso’s threshold inquiry with Mr. Gondola. Within a minute of this rolling surveillance, Detective Cicerone stated that he retrieved a white, rocklike, substance he believed to be Crack Cocaine, a class B narcotic. During this time, Mr. Anacreon was traveling on Temple toward Broadway. I radioed Somerville Dispatch for a marked unit in order to effect a motor vehicle stop. As Mr. Anacreon was travelling on Temple Street, I observed him stopping at the corner of Sewall Street where he met with a male later identified as Mr. Victor Gonzalez. Mr. Anacreon exited his car and again conducted a quick hand to hand transaction with Mr. Gonzalez where items were exchanged. Based on my training and experience, I recognized this behavior as being consistent with a drug transaction. At that moment, marked unit East 4 operated by Officer Kim arrived on scene and activated his blue lights and sirens to conduct the motor vehicle stop. Detective Costa and I grabbed Mr. Anacreon, and Sgt Rego took control of Mr. Gonzalez. As Sgt Rego attempted to secure Mr. Gonzalez, he dropped a white rocklike substance wrapped in a clear plastic bag believed to be Crack Cocaine.

Mr Anacreon had a large sum of cash on him which he kept into two different stacks. I seized the money and logged it into evidence. The two white, rocklike items retrieved were field tested positive for Cocaine. I would like to note that the drug transaction between Mr. Anacreon and Mr. Gondola occurred within a 100 feet of Trum Field, which is a public park maintained by the City of Somerville. Mr Anacreon’s vehicle was towed to the Somerville Police Station. The vehicle and the money seized from Mr. Anacreon will be subject of forfeiture.

Respectfully submitted,

Detective Guerdy Legros #280

Somerville Police Dept.
