Come to public skating on February 14 and help us reach $10k for Denna Laing

Cambridge, MA – Join us for public skating at Simoni Rink from 1:00-2:50 pm on Sunday February 14 and help us reach our goal of raising $10,000 for the Denna Laing Fund. $1 from every public skating admission on February 14th will be donated and FMC will match any additional donations made at the arena that day.

Denna suffered a spinal cord injury while playing in the Women’s Classic at Gillette Stadium, leaving her with no feeling in her legs and partial feeling in one arm. Donations to her fund go to help cover medical costs as she fights toward recovery.

February 14th was chosen to honor the Boston Pride player’s roots as a Princeton Tiger, where she donned number 14 as the center co-captain. In the wake of the injury, teams from around the country have been taking photographs posed in the number and posting them to social media in support.

“Denna is part of our ice sports community and an amazing example of how personal courage and positive outlook can overcome even the most tragic events,” said FMC President Rob McBride. “We all shared the heartache of Denna’s injury on December 31st and have been inspired beyond words since that day watching her battle back with tenacity and a spirit that knows no bounds. I’m certain the caring members of FMC’s community will help us exceed our fundraising goal to assist in Denna’s recovery.”
