Real Life Somerville Police Stories:DEFACEMENT MALICIOUS WANTON PROPERTY at the East End Grille

On Thursday, December 10, 2015 at 12:04 A.M., I was dispatched to the East End Grille located at 118 Broadway, Somerville for a dispute. Officer Goncalves also responded.

Upon arrival, I observed a male and a female arguing near the counter. The two parties were separated and identified as XXXXX, and Joy Medeiros.

XXXXX stated that Ms. Medeiros left the bar around 11:30 P.M., on 12/09/2015 and returned around 11:45 P.M., looking for her wallet. XXXXX and YYYYY searched behind the counter, then went downstairs and searched the storage area and were unable to find the wallet.

According to XXXXX, Ms. Medeiros started screaming, then walked behind the counter and pushed 44 bottles of alcohol off the shelf. As a result 19 bottles were broken and several others spilled.

I asked Ms. Medeiros to tell me her side of the story, and she replied “I was looking for my wallet and when I didn’t find it, I just went ballistic”. I asked Ms. Medeiros to explain what she meant by “ballistic” and she did not reply. Ms. Medeiros was under the influence of alcohol and was uncooperative.

I placed Ms. Medeiros under arrest for wanton destruction of property. She was transported to the Somerville Police Headquarters via unit 200 operated by Officer Brioso and booked by Lieutenant Lavey.

Respectfully submitted,
