MMA To Testify On Motorcycle License Plates Bills


Representatives from the Massachusetts Motorcycle Association will be on hand Thursday, December 3, 2015 to testify before the Joint Committee on Transportation in favor of 7 bills concerning motorcycle license plates for Veterans and Firefighters. The public hearing will be conducted at 2:00 PM in room B-1 at the Massachusetts State House.


Virtually every bill scheduled to be heard directly affects motorcyclists who are veterans by authorizing special license plates for motorcycles, reduced (or elimination) of license plate fees for veterans, and distinctive license plates for Firefighters here in the Commonwealth.


The bills scheduled to be heard are:

S.1899 – An Act relative to the expansion of charitable license plates – James E. Timilty

H.2971 – An Act to decrease the Veterans’ Plate fee – Josh S. Cutler

H.2979 – An Act exempting Veterans from the standard registration fee for Veterans license plates – James J. Dwyer

H.2988 – An Act relative to the elimination of an annual fee by veterans for distinctive license plates – John V. Fernandes

H.3084 – An Act to reduce the fee for motor vehicle veteran registration plates – Paul A. Schmid, III

H.3087 – An Act to authorize firefighter motorcycle license plates – Todd M. Smola

H.3314 – An Act relative to fees for veterans plates – Todd M. Smola

Any rider that has an interest in these bills is encouraged to attend the hearing to voice your support.
