Stephen Jones is lifelong resident of Somerville and a graduate of Somerville High School. He went on to receive his masters in Criminal Justice from UMASS Lowell.
He is a patrolman with the Somerville Police Department and former Director of Traffic and Parking. Stephen recently volunteered for the STEPS (Students and Teachers Engage Public Safety) program where he is serving as a mentor to the entire 6th grade in the Somerville Public School System. It’s a commitment Stephen and his fellow officers will carry through for a full seven years, with each officer staying with the classes from sixth grade through their high school graduation in 2022. STEPS aims to foster trust and positive relationships between young people and police officers and to help young people grow into responsible and successful adults.
We here at the Somerville News Weekly salute you for everything that you do to make Somerville a better place.
Congratulations!
