Real Life Somerville Police Stories:suspended license arrest

On August, 17, 2015, I was assigned in uniform to marked unit East 3. At 0957 hrs, While traveling West bound on Somerville Ave, A public way in the city of Somerville, I randomly queried Ma registration 4STN20 (2001 Nissan Maxima), from the MDT located in my cruiser. The status of the registration was active, however it showed the registered owner had a suspended MA driver’s license for payment default.

I activated my emergency lights and sirens to stop the MV at 571 Somerville Ave. I approached the operator, Identified as Paul Fidler the registered owner of the MV, and explained the reason for the stop. Mr. Fidler was then asked to step out of his vehicle where he was placed under arrest without incident. Mr Fidler was issued Mass Uniform Citation #R6632457 for operating a Motor Vehicle with a suspended Ma Drivers License, and his vehicle was towed via Pats Tow.

Mr. Fidler was then transported to Somerville Police Headquarters via marked unit 200, Officer Anderson, where he was booked in the usual manner by the Sgt. DeOliviera.

Respectfully submitted,

Officer Jason Costa # 301
