This summer, Somerville will be welcoming a new team to Dilboy Stadium, to play America’s most favorable sport, football.
The Somerville Rampage is a men’s 18+ semi-pro football team and will be kicking off their inaugural season as part of the New England Football League. Coached by a 15 year NEFL veteran, Brad Yancey, the Rampage plan to provide live, athletic entertainment that features strong, talented, and smart young men. The team is made up of a diverse group: from post graduates, military veterans, construction workers, visual artists, law enforcement, television producers, teachers, mechanics, outreach workers, librarians, dental assistants, electricians, and students. Somerville Rampage has teamed up with Somerville’s Youth Football program and has been dedicated to teaching the youth through positive role models. The Rampage emphasize on learning, playing, and enjoying the sport while instilling high moral standards by stressing the importance of academic achievement and community involvement thus helping kids become leaders and teammates. Honesty, responsibility and self-discipline are among the traits needed by youngsters to face the future with positive aspirations and confidence. The Rampage believe in teaching the youth positive lessons, such as playing by the rules, so young athletes can to learn to live by the rules. The Somerville Rampage will be showcasing their skills all over New England this summer.
