Stephen COUTURE Arrest

On Sunday June 28, 2015 I, Officer D’Amelio was in full uniform assigned to marked cruiser unit 871 (E1) for the Somerville Police Department. Riding along with me was Officer Van Nostrand.
At approximately 4:35 PM we were dispatched along with Officer Gee (A1) to Kmart for a shoplifting in progress. KMart loss prevention employee, XXXXX, was outside of the store waiting for us. He stated that YYYYY who also works for KMart loss prevention observed an individual on the surveillance camera’s concealing electronics into a back pack. XXXXX gave us a description of a white male, approximately 6’0″ tall wearing a dark color jacket, and a green back pack.

An individual matching this description attempted to leave the store and was stopped by XXXXX outside of the store at the front entrance. The individual was identified as Stephen Couture. He was escorted back to the loss prevention office and numerous stolen items were recovered. The stolen items were: a pair of pink ear bud headphones, pair of black men’s sandals, blue duffel bag, pair of gray men’s athletic shorts, 2- wireless athletic tracker wristbands, black over the ear headphones, pair of men’s size 12 shoes, and a deck of playing cards.

After totaling up the value of all items, the cost came to over $250.00 worth of merchandise that was stolen from the store by Mr. Couture. At this time he was placed under arrest for Larceny Over 250$ M.G.L. c266/30. Mr. Couture was transported by Unit 200 ( prisoner transport vehicle) to the Somerville Police Station, where he was to be booked in the usual manner by Sergeant DeOliveira.

Respectfully Submitted,

Officer George K. D’Amelio #324
