On Tuesday morning throughout the entire day, Somerville Department of Public Works, Somerville Water Department and city contractor PT Kelly crews were out working on a 12″ inch water-main break on Cross Street East at Broadway in the single digit frigid temperatures trying to repair the leak.
Thousands of gallons of water gushed out and flooded Cross Street East and parts of lower Broadway flowing endlessly several inches deep at a rapid rate.
While police blocked of streets, Somerville DPW crews had to also salt the entire area to keep it from freezing and creating more of a safety hazard.
