If you are a local business and you didn’t clear your sidewalk yet, well you could get hit with a $5000 tax-lien/fine on your tax bill.

The City of Somerville’s code enforcement unit is driving around the city with a police escort overseeing a contractors, Crowleys Concepts and Carli Fence who are clearing sidewalks for you with bobcats and plow trucks if you didn’t already do it yourself.

A whopping $5000 tax lien could be placed on your tax bill for that penalty.

With a record snowfall that Somerville received this year and more snow predicted in the forecast, other municipalities are following suit and situations like this are occurring more and more every day.

These photos were taken Tuesday on Joy Street in Somerville where two or three businesses have already gotten shoveled out by the city’s contractor and will be assessed the fees.
