On 11/6/2014 while assigned the Criminal Investigation Division I heard a radio call a person being transported to the Somerville Hospital with a stab wound. I drove to the Somerville Hospital and I interviewed the V. He told me that he and his brother Michael Baptista went to a friend’s house at Warwick Street. They knocked at the door and the defendant answered the door and an argument ensued. The defendant had a large black handle knife in his hand. A fight ensued and all individuals involved ended up in the street. victim told me that the defendant began throwing punches at him. Now the fight ended up across the street and witness grabbed the knife cutting his left hand. Victim was driven to the Somerville Hospital by Michael’s girlfriend.

While I was at the Somerville Hospital interviewing the V Officer Steven Jones, and Eric Ubeda had secured the crime scene located at Warwick Street. I left the hospital en route to Warwick Street.

Upon my arrival at Warwick Street Officers Devin Schneider, and Detective Dante DiFronzo were on scene. Detective DiFronzo was interviewing the defendant. I went down stairs to the basement and Officer Schneider showed me were the knife was located. The knife was in a closet. I took pictures of the knife were it was located. Before I confiscated the knife I spoke to the owner of the single family house. I explained to her I would need her permission to search the house for the knife and that I would need her consent to do so. She was advised of the consent to search law and she gave me consent to search. I confiscated the knife and it was brought to the police station, and placed into evidence.

I informed the defendant that he was arrest for assault/by/means to wit a knife. He was hand cuffed and transported to the police station to be booked.
