News & Notes

United Stationers Donates Backpacks, School Supplies to ESCS Students
Every student at the East Somerville Community School kicked off the 2014-2015 school year sporting a brand new backpack filled with school supplies, courtesy of United Stationers Charitable Foundation. United Stationers Inc. is an Office/Stationeries wholesale distributor based in Woburn, MA. United Stationers associates were joined by student volunteers from Tufts’ FOCUS group on a Friday morning in late August for a special backpack distribution event at the East Somerville Community School. This was the fourth year United Stationers, Inc. has supported the Back to School Backpack program, and their first year in Somerville. Approximately 35 United Stationers Associates used their own time during work breaks or before/after scheduled work hours, to help fill backpacks with school supplies and get them ready for the distribution event. The end result was hundreds of very happy students ready to start a new school year. To find out more about the United Stationers Charitable Foundation, visit
