Afternoon at the Movies: Monday 31st q
– Holland Street Atrium – 12:30 P.M. The first movie in our Afternoon at the Movies – Last Vegas starring Michael Douglas, Robert DeNiro, Morgan Freeman and Kevin Kline. Three sixty-something friends take a break from their day-to-day lives to throw a bachelor party in Las Vegas for their last remaining single pal. Book Club: Friday, April 4th – The book club meets the first Friday of each month, except for holiday weeks. April’s book is The Buddha in the Attic by Julie Otsuka – The story of a group of young women brought from Japan to San Francisco as “picture brides” nearly a century ago. Culinary Arts Luncheon: Tuesday, April 8th – Doors will open at 10:45 A.M. – The Highlander Café is located at the atrium of Somerville High School, which is located closest to the library. There is limited seating and a cost of $9.00 with a choice of Scallops or Chicken Parmesan. Contact Connie for more information and to RSVP at 617-625-6600 Ext. 2300.

Volunteer Appreciation Luncheon: Wednesday, April 9th – The Somerville Council on Aging will be showing our appreciation to all our volunteers.

Holiday Inn Dance: Monday, April 14th – 11:00 A.M. to 2:00 P.M. – 30 Washington Street – $20.00 – Come and enjoy a terrific lunch, with good music and wonderful friends. To RSVP and for more information please contact Connie at 617-625-6600 Ext. 2300.

Foster’s Clambake: Monday, Auguest 18th – Join us as we go off to the beaches of York, Maine. We transform one of Maine’s best known facilities for lobster into our very own clambake. Meal choices include lobster, BBQ chicken or a vegetarian meal. Meals also include chowder, clams, mussels, corn on the cob, potatoes, rolls & butter, dessert, coffee, tea, iced tea or lemonade. $62.00 per person -Check in time 9:00 A.M. at Holland Street and 9:15 A.M. at Ralph & Jenny Center. Taj Mahal Resort & Casino: Monday, October 13th – Wednesday, October 15th – This resort which is located on the broadwalk in Atlantic City has world class restaurants, non-stop entertainment and a dazzling array of shops. Mayor’s 5th Annual Fitness Challenge: The SCOA will be at hosting a table at the Saturday, March 29th and Thursday, April 3rd events – encouraging our seniors to participate and informing people on the Health & Wellness programs we have to offer. LGBT EVENTS

LBT Women Fit-4-Life – Fitness and Nutrition Classes. Classes are Tuesday and Thursday evenings starting at 6:00 P.M. $10 a month with scholarships available – please contact Chris at 617-625-6600 ext. 2300 for more information. We have available slots and would love to have you.

LGBT Advisory Group – Will now meet on the 2nd Monday of each month. Our next meeting is Monday, April 14th at 4:30 P.M. If you are interested in serving on the Advisory Board please contact Maureen at 617-625-6600 Ext. 2300 or email MBastardi@Somervillema.gov

The Somerville Council on Aging LGBT Advisory Group has decided to postpone the Dinner / Dance originally scheduled for the 6th of June. When the Group decides on a new date we will be sure to keep you posted.

Ralph and Jenny Center will be open four days a week (Mon-Thurs) beginning Monday, February 3rd!

Cards and Games hour at Ralph & Jenny at 10:00 am every day the center is open (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday). Come join your friends or make some new ones. Cards, Scrabble and Cribbage.

Do you crochet or would you like to learn? How about knitting? A new group will be starting on April 3rd and continue on Tuesdays & Thursdays at 9:30 A.M. Join a great group in learning to crochet & knit or share your projects you are working on. Please bring your own yarn & needles for now.
