Capt “JR” of Sambuca Charters who stars in Nat Geo’s new tv hit series “Wicked Tuna” visited with the staff of The Somerville News and BostonNewsGroup.com this past Saturday evening in Somerville to offer his congratulations on the new opening.
Bostonnewsgroup.com and The Somerville News Weekly are currently considering putting together a “Charity Boston Harbor Tour Cruise as well as a Charity Fishing Trip Raffle aboard the two Somerville News and Bostonnewsgroup.com news boats to benefit Somerville Lions Club charities that explore eye research and help to find a cure for blindness.
The newspaper is hoping to utilize some “Star Studded Power” to spark up some extra excitement and interest for the summer of 2014 events!

Please follow the rules at our home field during the games. All players must go onto the field by crossing on the carpet, NO CLEATS on the track, NO Gatorade, Bags or Back Parks on the field.

The results are in and Somerville Public Schools showed phenomenal growth on MCAS tests in 2013. Being the data lovers that we are, we’ve been going through the numbers and have found lots of great news in the latest test results. Some highlights include: Somerville High made a 2-level jump to a Level 1 Designation; the district’s Student Growth Percentile surpassed almost all districts with 1,000+ students; there was a notable rise in the number of students scoring advanced or proficient in math and English language arts.
