WOBURN – Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan announced that she has added experienced law enforcement leader Richard McLaughlin to her team to serve as Law Enforcement Liaison working with police departments to improve training, increase transparency and strengthen the collaborative work of the District Attorney’s Office with local police departments.
“Former Chief McLaughlin brings a wealth of knowledge to this position. Our local police serve a vital role, not only in our criminal cases and investigations, but in the preventative programs we run in the communities,” said District Attorney Ryan. “In this Office we strive to work with our police departments to provide officers with training on the latest emerging technologies and best practices, whether it be using forensic genetic genealogy to investigation a decades old case or ensuring officers know updates made to criminal law and procedures. In this new role Richard McLaughlin’s reputation as a trusted leader, motivator, and team builder, will help us to achieve these goals.”
McLaughlin’s duties will include leading conversations around emerging law enforcement practices; working with the police discovery team to analyze discovery issues; and increasing communication with police personnel throughout the County.
Richard McLaughin brings over 25 years of experience leading security and police operations for metro-suburban towns. Most recently he served as the Chief of Police for the town of Belmont. He was previously a Police Captain and Community Services Division Commander with the Arlington Police Department.
