Somerville/Medford Remembering William P. Rixon

Obituary
William P. Rixon, of Salem, NH, formerly of Medford, passed away after a brief illness on Sunday, February 23, 2025, at the age of 75.

Born in Cambridge and raised in Medford, William was the beloved son of the late Walter C. and Edna L. (Murphy) Rixon. He was a cherished father, papa, and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

William was known for his passion for sports, especially when it came to supporting his grandchildren. He rarely missed a game and could always be found cheering them on from the sidelines. His love for the game was matched only by his love for the summer months, when he could be found basking in the sun by the pool or enjoying the soothing rhythm of the waves at the beach. For William, being by the water was a peaceful retreat, a place where he felt most at home.

In addition to his family and love for sports, William cherished the bond he had with his childhood friends. Every month, he would gather for lunch with a close-knit group of friends with whom he had shared memories since grade school. These friendships were an important part of his life, providing him with joy and laughter throughout the years

Beloved husband of the late Margaret M. (Coyne) Rixon. Devoted father of Marty Rixon and his wife Rachel of Somerville, Debbie Rixon and her husband Joe Caron of Salem, NH. Cherished and loving papa of Kaelyn, Joseph and Riley Caron, and Fiona, Maia and Maeve Rixon. Dear brother of Steve Rixon, Jeanie Bradley, Joanne Doyle, John Rixon, Mary Anne Cox, Barbara Joseph and the late Walter Rixon. Also survived by many loving nieces, nephews and friends.
