Somerville/Medford Remembering Edward J. Pitts

Obituary

Pitts, Edward J. – Of Somerville, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 11, 2024 at home. He was 90 years old.

Born in Cambridge, he was the son of the late Edward and Josephine (Sullivan) Pitts. Edward was a family man. He enjoyed spending time with his family. When his grandchildren were younger, he would always be the first one to get on the floor and play with them. Seeing their laughter and smiles always brought joy to him. As they got older and started to have their own children, he would do the same with his great-grandchildren. He would always say, that is what keeps him young. His career as a millworker, made him a handy man. He loves to tinker with things around the house or even fix a bicycle or two. Edward loved to BBQ and if you invited him over for a BBQ, you knew he was going to come in and take control and become the grill master for the evening. He also enjoyed golfing, a good crossword puzzle, playing pool and bowling. But one thing, he enjoyed most of all was spending time with his beloved wife Barbara. They traveled the world together and explored many new places. Edwards love and passion for his family will be greatly missed.

Beloved husband of 68 years to Barbara A. (Daly) Pitts. Devoted father of Dennis Pitts and his fiancé Judith Brown of Somerville, Claire Harrinton and her husband Brian of Billerica. Kenneth Pitts and his husband Chris of Marlboro, David Pitts and his wife Mary of Clinton, Irene Reilly and her husband Michael of Concord and the late Edward Pitts and his surviving wife Carol. Cherished grandfather of Michael Harrinton and his wife Loreal, Sean Harrington and his partner Julie, and Kevin Harrington and his wife Danielle, Samantha Reed and her husband Ben, James and Erin Reilly.
