Obituary
Mahoney, D.Leo – 76, On May 12, 2024 after a short illness, life long resident of Somerville.
Leo was the son of the beloved late Edward and Mary (Sullivan) Mahoney. He grew up in West Somerville in a home with loving parents, four brothers, a sister and a doting grandmother and aunt. He graduated from Somerville High School, Class of 1967. He was a long term employee of Verizon. In retirement, he enjoyed caring for his beloved dog, Happy, keeping up with national politics and following the NFL.
The devoted brother of Edward, Jack and Kevin Mahoney, his sister Maryanne O’Connell and his late brother Robert Mahoney. Also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
Leo will be remembered as a communicant at St. Clement Church, a lifelong New York Giants fan and as a loveable curmudgeon worse bark was worse than his bit.
Calling hours will be held on Monday, May 20th in the George L. Doherty Funeral Home 855 Broadway (Powder House SQ.) Somerville, from 9:30AM to 10:30AM. Followed by a funeral mass in St. Clement Church, 64 Warner St., Medford at 10:30AM.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend.
Services will conclude with burial at Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett.
