Albert L. Libardoni, (86) a longtime resident of Arlington, passed away on Sunday, June 4, 2023 at Mount Auburn Hospital.

Originally from Somerville, he was the beloved son of the late Angelo and Teresa Libardoni. He was a devoted brother to Norma Sheehan of Somerville, and his late siblings: Mario Libardoni, Frank Libardoni and Mary Dangora and their spouses: the late Robert Sheehan, Connie Libardoni, the late Dorothy Libardoni and the late Harry Dangora. “Uncle Al” was cherished by his 17 nieces and nephews and his many great nieces and nephews.
He was an Army veteran that served during the Korean war as a Specialist 2nd Class. He served from 1954-1956 and was in the Reserves until 1962. Al had a successful career as an electrical engineer at Honeywell for nearly 30 years. Well respected among his coworkers, he worked on many special projects both here and abroad. He was also an active member of the Retired Men’s Club of Arlington and joined them on many events and outings.
Al was a sports enthusiast. His love of all Boston teams was constant, but the Bruins were his favorite. He was a season ticket holder for many years. His nieces and nephews loved getting the phone call when he had an extra ticket for a game, and it was their turn to join him. Al enjoyed being active outdoors. He was an avid biker, walker and fisherman. He was a frequent traveler, and shared many stories of his adventures.
But what brought Al the most joy was his big family. He showed up for every occasion and event, and was a present, loving uncle. Holidays were extra special with him. Ever the engineer, he assembled complex toys at Christmas and explained the rules of newly gifted games. He sat for hours, patiently playing with everyone. Many happy memories were made with him.
Services will be held at the George L. Doherty Funeral Home 855 Broadway (Powder House Sq.) Somerville. Calling Hours are on Monday, June 12th from 4:00PM to 7:00PM. The funeral procession will be Tuesday, June 13th at 9:00AM from the funeral home followed by a Funeral Mass celebrated in St. Catherine’s Church, 179 Summer St., Somerville at 10:00AM . Services will conclude with a burial at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Arlington.
