Mr. Francis M. Linehan, of Medford and formerly of Somerville, passed away unexpectedly on August 6, 2022, he was 89. Born and raised in Somerville he was one of seven children born to Joseph E. and Sarah C. (Kearney) Linehan.
He was the beloved husband of the late Elizabeth M. (Greene) Linehan. Devoted father of Kevin Linehan and his wife Joanne of Melrose, Karen Doherty and her husband Richard of Tewksbury, Michael Linehan and Brian Linehan, both of Medford. Cherished grandfather of Kelli, Rachel and Bryan Doherty. Dear brother of the late Charles, Joseph, Jr. William, Richard, Edward and his surviving wife Lois and Paul and his surviving wife Bobbette. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
Funeral Procession from the George L. Doherty Funeral Home, 855 Broadway (Powder House Sq.) Somerville on Friday at 9AM followed by a Funeral Mass celebrated in the immaculate Conception Church, Malden at 10AM. Relatives and friends invited to attend.

Mr. Linehan was a retired engineer for the former Metropolitan District Commission (MDC) where he was assigned to the Charlestown and Amelia Earhart Dams, as a member of the Pipefitters Local he was responsible for maintaining the steam and diesel engines that opened and closed the dams to raise or lower water levels of the Mystic River and Boston Harbor.
