Somerville’s Beloved R.F. O’Sullivan & Son Reopens Saturday
Iconic neighborhood burger joint returns as the same hangout with expanded menu

SOMERVILLE, MA (April 20 2022) – Shuttered since May of 2021, R.F. O’Sullivan & Son in Somerville will make its triumphant return this Saturday, April 23, to continue it’s 30-year run. Operating under new management, the neighborhood go-to spot will continue its legacy as the same laid-back hangout where burgers and beers are king.

The classic Irish pub will feature an expanded menu centered around nine signature hand-formed patties that are seasoned and grilled to perfection. Highlights include more classic preparations like The Celtic with lettuce, tomato, onion, bacon, pickles and American cheese ($14); Don’t Poke the Bear with bacon, maple bacon glaze, fried egg and cheddar ($15); and Mushroom & Swiss with horseradish pepper sauce ($16). Twists on the basic burger are seen in The Greek with lettuce, tomato, onion, tzatziki, roasted red pepper and feta ($15) and The Impossible, a plant-based patty topped with lettuce, tomato, onion and pickle ($15).

The restaurant – notorious for going through hundreds of pounds of beef weekly – also adds bar staples to the menu like The Fenway Frank with peppers and onions ($9); Bar Pretzel with beer cheese ($9); Steak & Cheese Eggrolls with sriracha aioli ($12); Cheddar Bites with marinara ($8); a trio of salads; plus wings, fries and onion rings.

Because no Irish watering hole is complete without its ice-cold suds, there are eight rotating beers on draught as well as another 11 options available by bottle or can. On the spirits side, there are six house cocktails like El Camino with mezcal, reposado, yellow chartreuse, pineapple, agave, lime and mole bitters ($16) and Lord Stanley Cup with Jägermeister, triple sec and ginger beer ($12).

Lauded as one of Greater Boston’s best hidden gems, this institution’s approachable and inviting atmosphere remains untouched and features 15 bar seats, 30 dining seats, three HDTVs, vintage signs and a fireplace. Soon, R.F. O’Sullivan & Son will debut lunch service available Friday through Sunday.

R.F. O’Sullivan & Son will reopen at its existing location at 282 Beacon Street in Somerville along the Cambridge border. The reopening hours are Monday through Thursday from 4:00-11:00pm; Friday and Saturday from 4:00pm-12:00am; and Sunday from 4:00-10:00pm.
