Early this Tuesday evening Somerville Police and Fire crews were dispatched to the Boathouse that’s located on Shore Drive in Somerville for two kayakers in the water. Rescue crews were able to rescue both kayakers from the Mystic River. It is reported that a Somerville police officer jumped into the water to make those rescues.

This incident taking place while the Somerville Police Marine Unit boat was not properly manned and still tied up at the dock. This rescue also while the Somerville Fire boat Marine One is still out of commission from taking on water and partially sunk at the dock earlier this month.
