Somerville Residents Participating in Final Plunge for Pete Frates

Hundreds on people including many Somerville residents dipped into the icy Atlantic this past Sunday at Good Harbor Beach in Gloucester for the Final Plunge for Pete Frates for the fight against ALS.

As the event took place, air planes flew overhead and US Coast Guard Coast Guard vessels circled the harbor.

Pete Frates who inspired the Ice Bucket Challenge that helped raise hundreds of millions of dollars to fight the disease.

Pete Frates died this past December after a seven year battle with ALS.

This annual dip into the frigid waters of Gloucester will be the 8th and final dip.
