Why don’t Somerville follow Malden. Check out Malden Over Addiction and learn what it represents. I attended a fundraiser for this cause in Malden back in May and could not believe what they do for addicts and how many lives they have changed for the better. I highly doubt there is place created there for people to go and shoot Heroin. This is a terrible idea. Come up with something like Malden did and watch the support you will get.

Addicts will not be going to shoot up and think about counseling or wanna talk about counseling.
When they gonna talk to them? Before they shoot and are strung out and can’t wait to get high? Fat chance. All they have on their mind is getting the drug in their vein ASAP!!!
Because they certainly can’t talk to them after they get high…
They need long term rehabilitation and recovery!
Nothing else works!!

Mass. U.S. attorney says safe injection sites are illegal — and he’ll enforce the law if they open

But the controversial strategy remains illegal under federal law, and U.S. Attorney for Massachusetts Andrew Lelling says anyone who uses or works at such a facility would face federal charges “regardless of any state law or study.”

“These sites normalize intravenous drug use, and they’re not nearly as effective as people think they are,” Lelling said in an interview. “It’s not a guaranteed defense against people overdosing.”
Lelling said the policy debate on Beacon Hill is skewed by misinformation, misleading studies and arguments from supporters that the sites are a panacea.
He pointed to the death of an addict last year from a fentanyl overdose at an injection site in Ottawa, Canada, which has four such facilities.
“I’ve seen it reported again and again that nobody has ever died at an injection site. That is false,” he said. “As fentanyl becomes more common, injection sites are less effective.”

I’ve lost 8 family members to this disease. Nobody cares or understands until it happens to their family. The pharmaceutical companies should give the billions they made off the opiate crisis back to longterm care. They r 100 % responsible for this crisis. Only people w alot of money can really get the longterm care they nd. Most addicts get a couple of wks in a program at best. Thats just not long enough. Until their is a solution or cure for all addicts we have to try everything. These sites actually work in other countries and bring down the death rates and until there is a better solution u should be open to all ideas.
