Somerville Media Center 2019 SMC Honors Gala

This past Friday evening, the Somerville Media Center hosted its 2019 SMC Honors Gala at the Arts At The Armory.

This night the best facets of community-made media shared in greater Somerville were recognized including local TV shows, podcasts, indie films and radio shows which are all the heart and soul of community media.

Somerville Media Center invited award nominees, friends, neighbors, community partners and members to join in celebrating these many achievements.

In addition to honoring directors, producers, show hosts and youth media participants, they also instituted two new awards: The first was for Public Service that was awarded to Former Alderman, Mayor and Congressman, Michael Capuano.
The second special award was presented to Former Alderman, Mayor and Middlesex Registrar of Deeds Eugene C. Brune in honor for his service in the community media industry. The award presented to Eugene Brune was first of its kind to be awarded.

JoAnn Rivieccio was awarded two awards one for Best Live SCATV Show Host and the second Best Informational SCATV show.

Congratulations to Mike and Gene on their awards and many thanks for all they did for the city of Somerville and it’s citizens. They are true Sons of Somerville.
