You may have heard this story last week on NPR, but it is worth sharing again because Fred’s settlement is so deserved, and long overdue.

Those who are wrongfully convicted shouldn’t have to wait for this moral and financial debt to be paid. But to make this process a little easier, they should – at the very least – be able to receive immediate assistance while they wait.

This session I filed another update to the wrongful conviction law so that immediately upon release, a person could receive $5,000 and immediate help with things like finding a job, finding a home, or getting health insurance.
