Dear Billy T and Somerville Speakup Line,

Did you hear about what’s going on at SHS? I received this notice listed below this past Friday night September 28th at 5:32 PM.

There was a threat of gun violence at the Somerville High School. All they can tell parents that they have increased police activity. There’s still no word or mention of whether or not if the student is presently at the school.

The school administration is being very tightlipped and not telling parents anything. This is extremely concerning especially since there is so much construction and demolition going on of the old high school.

My child has told me on numerous occasions people have easy access into the school now and that not all doors are being monitored when they should be. Please look into this. We as parents have a right to know if I children are safe.

The increased police presence is helpful, but useless if the student with the weapon is in the classroom. It will be too late.
