Dear Billy T and Somerville Speakup Line,

There are multiple issues going on in Davis Square which I frequented for years and now try to avoid due to the traffic problems there — let me be more specific:

Majority of pedestrians who are comprised of college students walking to a Tufts from Davis MBTA and young professionals just leap into the streets without paying attention to motorists.

The have witnessed reckless behavior of pedestrians for years— few will bother to use crosswalks and are discourteous to drivers who could be stuck in traffic for up to 30 minutes trying to get through. The lights change too frequently and why there are delays. However, the bigger issue is there are too many pedestrians using this area without proper safety measures put in place.

It’s imperative we have police presence at the Davis Square MBTA stop to ensure everyone on the road is following traffic laws.

People crossing are not paying attention to their surroundings. I have not witnessed any motorists driving recklessly, however I have seen a number of pedestrians who look as though they are walking through the Boston Common and not a busy street.

Put law enforcement back on the streets and you will see a difference.
