Public Hearing on City Budget

The Somerville Board of Aldermen is holding a public hearing about the proposed Fiscal Year 2019 budget on June 26, at 6 p.m. at City Hall.

The proposed budget reflects an emphasis on equity – helping provide opportunities for all families and residents while making sure the most vulnerable in our community are not left behind. It makes more than $800,000 in equity-related investments to help fund things like early childhood support, housing stability initiatives, and workforce development. It also allocates funds to fill critical City positions related to construction and engineering: With projects like the Green Line Extension under way, Somerville will see unprecedented levels of construction in the next few years. As always, the biggest chunk of Somerville’s budget goes to our schools, reflecting a long-running commitment to education.

You can find documents related to the budget, including the Mayor’s budget presentation, at Somerville’s Legislative Meeting Portal.
