Real Life Somerville Police Stories: Luis RODRIGUEZ (Attaching Wrong MV Plates, Unlic. MV Op, Uninsured MV)

On January 16, 2018, I, Officer Tim Van Nostrand, was on duty and assigned to uniform patrol in marked cruiser East 1.  At approximately 6:29pm, I randomly queried MA XXXXX as the vehicle operated westbound on Broadway, a public way.  The result of my query showed a revoked status to a Honda Civic.  The vehicle bearing these plates was an Infiniti G37 sedan.

I activated my emergency equipment and stopped the vehicle on Broadway by Michigan Ave.  The operator identified himself as Luis Rodriguez, via a Dominican Republic license.  Rodriguez stated he resides in Charlestown, and has lived there for 6 years.  I queried his information and learned he does not possess a valid license to operate in Massachusetts.  In addition, the vehicle plates do not belong to Rodriguez, were revoked, and were improperly attached.

I also located an active warrant for Rodriguez arrest for A&B.  I placed Rodriguez under arrest for the warrant as well as Unlicensed Operation (90/10), Attaching plates (90/23/K), and Uninsured motor vehicle (90/34J).  Pat’s tow responded and towed the vehicle.  I seized both license plates and issued Rodriguez citation #T0400720 for the violations.

Officer Joe Rivera responded in unit 200, and transported Rodriguez to the station where he was booked by Lt. W. Rymill in the usual manner.

Respectfully submitted,

Officer Tim Van Nostrand
