Our condolences go out to the McMahon family for the passing of James McMahon.

James was a wonderful and kindhearted person who had many friends here in the city.

James McMahon will be sadly missed here in Somerville.

McMahon, James P.

Of Malden, formerly of Somerville. He immigrated from Doolin, County Clare Ireland in 1954. He was called home after a lengthy illness on December 15, 2017, surrounded by his loving family. Predeceased by his parents Michael and Catherine of Doolin, County Clare Ireland. He was a devoted husband to Claire (Murphy) of Somerville. Loving father of Kathleen Sullivan and her husband David of Myrtle Beach, SC, James McMahon and his wife Linda of Montclair, VA, Kevin McMahon of Marlborough, Maureen McMahon of Malden, Michael McMahon of Malden, Brian McMahon and his wife Debbie of Cambridge, and Eileen Woods and her husband Billy of Lowell. Cherished ‘Bamps’ to Colleen, Katie, Shannon, Caitlin, Shawna, Kellie, James, Michael, Connor, Meghan, Casey, Patrick, Callie, Brandon, and Ryan. Great Grandfather to Sheilagh, Murphy, Kinsley, Kayla, Jameson, and Landon. Devoted brother of Gussie McMahon, Catherine Considine, and the late Bridget Tierney and Mary Nagle, all of County Clare Ireland. Dear brother in law to Danny and Carolyn Murphy of Medford, Emily Murphy and the late Kenny Murphy of Malden, Lawrence Murphy and the late Joyce Murphy of Somerville. He is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Jimmy was a long time DPW Parks Department Foreman for the City of Somerville. Relatives and friends are invited to attend visiting hours in the Immaculate Conception Church, 600 Pleasant Street, Malden MA, on Tuesday from 4-8pm. A Funeral Mass will be held in the church on Wednesday at 10am. Burial to follow in Mt. Auburn Cemetery, Cambridge. In lieu of flowers, donations in James’ memory may be made to a charity of your choice.

  1. So sorry to hear of Jimmy’s passing , he was such a good man , he worked along side of Bobby Phillips for years and was considered a good friend. My prayers go out to his family .
