Meet this week’s “Special Person of the Week: FLORENCE(MIELE)BARRY

MR’S ”B” OR FLO TO MOST EVERYONE SHE KNOWS. SHE IS A LONG TIME RESIDENT OF SOMERVILLE WHO HAS 5 CHILDREN AND 6 GRANDCHILDREN. A FRIEND TO MANY IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD SURROUNDING THE LINCOLN PARK AREA OF SOMERVILLE

MR’S ”B” ALTHOUGH RETIRED FROM FOODMASTER, SHE IS VERY ACTIVE STILL AND DEVOTES HER TIME AS A VOLUNTEER AT THE LINCOLN PARK SCHOOL WHERE SHE IS ADORED BY HER 3RD GRADE CLASS. 

FLO HAS ALSO WORKED AT CITY HALL IN THE ELECTIONS DEPARTMENT THROUGH THE YEARS AND WAS ONE OF THE ORIGINAL MEMBERS OF THE SOMERVILLE CITY CLUB ALONG WITH HER LATE HUSBAND WILLIAM “BILL” BARRY

 

FLO GREW UP IN THE ITALIAN NEIGHBORHOOD OF EAST CAMBRIDGE AS THE YOUNGEST OF 

6 SIBLINGS WHERE HER MOTHER AND FATHER EMIGRATED FROM ITALY IN THE EARLY 1900’s.

FLO MARRIED WILLIAM BARRY, THE HANDSOME NAVY VETERAN AND FULL BLOODED IRISHMAN FROM CHARLESTOWN/SOMERVILLE.
FLO IS A REGULAR EVERY SATURDAY AT THE ‪4 O’CLOCK‬ MASS AT ST. JOSEPHS IN UNION SQ.
