Meet this week’s “Special Person of the Week: Mary “Midge” Donovan Kelly 

Mary “Midge” Donovan Kelly is a Lifelong Somervillen. She grew up on Richdale Avenue, attended St. Anns, Somerville High School then later married and moved to Ten Hills. Now Mary resides in West Somerville where she raised five Incredible children. 

No Surprise to her family, Mary always worked in a field helping and caring for others. A few of those jobs included working at the Little Sisters of the Poor, St. Anns Rectory, St. Polycarps Rectory where she cooked and cleaned for the residents.  

She is Currently working for the Somerville Public Schools transporting students with disabilities to and from school daily and Loves it. 

Mary also loves cooking, baking and often makes and delivers dinners and pies for longtime neighbors and friends. 

Mary is well known and very much loved in her large family for her Apple, Lemon Meringue and Whoopie Pies.

She is always willing to lend a hand to others that are in need. 

Mary has always been very much involved in events and fundraisers within the churchs, schools that her children were hosting with the most recent and largest so far being the Yearly Autism Fundraiser for her Grandson, Jake (the snake) Kelly. 

Her generosity is second to none and of all the things that keep Mary busy, what she truly loves the very most is spending time with her children, grandchildren and her family. 

If you know Mary (Midge), your world is a brighter place. She is a one of a kind mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. 

This is Why we think Mary (Midge) is Somervilles person of the week.

Our hats are off to her true Somerville spirit!
