Meet this week’s “Special Person of the Week:Joe Hamel

He was born in Cambridge at the Cambridge City Hospital in June of 1969.

Soon after his family later moved to Somerville from Cambridge in 1976 where he grew up in East Somerville then later graduated from Somerville’s Technical Trade School in 1987 with a degree in auto repair while working as a auto mechanic.

In 1999 Joe became employed by the Somerville’ s Department of Public Works as the small engine repairman for the building and grounds Deptpartment and then soon after that as a heavy machine operator for the Somerville Highway Department.

Joe is currently working as a senior health inspector for the Somerville Health Department.

When a worthy cause arises in Somerville, Joe is always the first one in line to be there and give them his complete total support.

Joe Hamel is also very popular in the city amongst all his coworkers who all respect, adore and enjoy their his company with his million dollar personality.

Our hats are off to his true team spirit!
