Real Life Somerville Police Stories:Stefania ACETO (Larceny)

On February 25, 2017, at approximately 15:40 hours, I, Officer Rivera, while in full uniform and working as Alpha 1, was contacted by Tj Maxx Loss Prevention Detective, XXXXX, via department issued cell phone. He informed me that he attempted to stop a female shoplifter, now known to me as Stefania Aceto, but she did not comply to his request. He stated that she selected a purse from the display and then filled the purse with several items. He stated that she walked outside of the store without paying for the merchandise. He stated that once she was outside of the store, she would not return the merchandise, and she fled on foot towards Lego Land, in Assembly Row. He also stated that he maintained a visual of her whereabouts.

Once on scene, Loss Prevention Detective XXXXX, Loss Prevention Detective YYYYY, and I, were able to stop Ms. Aceto in the area of 331 Great River Road. I was able to recover all of the stolen merchandise, totaling $526.78, from Ms. Aceto. Ms. Aceto was carrying 2 stolen purses and a black shopping bag, with several items inside that were not paid for. All of the items that were recovered are the property of Tj Maxx. I informed Ms. Aceto that she was under arrest for larceny over $250. She was then transported to the station, via 200, that was operated by Officer Haley. Once at the station, Ms. Aceto was booked in the usual manner by the shift commander, Lieutenant Ward.

Respectfully submitted,

Officer Joseph Rivera #309
