Real Life Somerville Police Stories:Jerome PELLOT (Shoplifting) at Big KMart Assembly Square Somerville

On 5/22/16 at approximately 7:13pm, I was contacted by loss prevention agents XXXXX and YYYYY of Kmart about two suspicious people they had observed in their store. XXXXX stated that there was one male who had a box cutter in his pocket and had concealed merchandise from the store in his front pockets.

After concealing the merchandise the man, later identified as Mr. Jerome Pellot-Cintron got into line with the female, later identified as ZZZZZ to purchase other items that they had in their cart. I waited outside Kmart, along with loss prevention agents and East-1 Ofc. Van Nostrand and East-4 Ofc. Hartsgrove for the two to come outside of the store. When Mr. Pellot-Cintron exited the store I immediately took the knife from his pocket. I asked him for the items that he had concealed and he took multiple items out of his pockets. He had three pairs of gloves, one charger, B-Complex supplement, 42-pc tools, and pick set tool. I would like to note, that he had taken tools out of a tool set and put them into his pocket which was observed by loss prevention. Mr. Pellot-Cintron stated that ZZZZZ had nothing to do with it and he was just being stupid. He stated that he had the money to pay for the items and that he would gladly pay for them now.

I advised Mr. Pellot-Cintron that I was placing him under arrest for MGL Chapter 266/Section 30A shoplifting by concealing merchandise. He was transported by Ofc. Anderson in marked unit 200 and booked in the usual manner by Lt. Ward.

Respectfully submitted,

Ofc. Sousa
