The this week’s Somerville Special Person of the Week Officer Rob Pasqualino

Based on two recommendations, received from two different officers, Officer Rob Pasqualino is hereby awarded the Somerville Police Department’s Beyond the Call of Duty Award.
The first incident occurred on January 28, 2016, and is paraphrased from a report submitted by Officer Eduardo Soares:
An elderly resident of 37 Parkdale Avenue locked himself out of his home. He resided by himself, and with no other options, he walked on a very cold day from his house, in hopes of receiving assistance, to the Somerville Police Station. Rob, without hesitation, offered the man a ride back to his house, where he awaited for the arrival of Somerville Fire. The man admitted to Rob that due to his age, his health had diminished, as well as his ability to remember things. Rob assured help so that he would never forget his keys to his home again. A few days later, Rob returned with a lock box he had purchased himself. He taught the man how to use the box, made sure that Dispatch entered the code into CAD, and refused compensation for the cost of the box.
The second incident occurred on April 20, 2015, and is paraphrased from a report submitted by Officer Ashley Catatao:
Rob self-initiated on a call to 75 Myrtle Street for reports of an elderly, agitated woman. The woman made comments about harming herself and wanting to die, and refused to go, voluntarily, to the hospital. Rob realized that part of the problem was that the woman’s hearing aid did not work. After offering to buy her a new battery, she agreed to go to the hospital. Rob went to CVS, bought the woman a new battery, and dropped it off to Cambridge City Hospital. Wow. What more can be said. Thanks to Officers Soares and Catatao for bringing these stories to light, and congratulations, Rob. Great job.
We here at the Somerville News Weekly salute you for everything that you do to make Somerville a better place.
Congratulations!
